Program history

Over the past 25 years the La Salle Hockey Program has been instrumental in developing young men to advance and compete at the collegiate level. Our program is committed to the total development of all student athletes with an emphasis on team success. The members of our program take great pride in having a strong work ethic, being accountable and unselfish. These qualities, and each player’s commitment to teamwork, provide our program with a strong foundation for success. La Salle has 2 teams: Varsity "AAA" and Junior Varsity.

What makes our program successful?

  • Quality, well rounded young men who strive for challenge and success in and out of the classroom
  • A commitment to player development and advancement, team success and sportsmanship
  • Dedicated coaching staffs that mentor, teach, and develop all student athletes
  • Strength of Schedule – La Salle plays the most competitive schedule of any HS hockey program in the state
  • Outstanding support of La Salle’s Administration, Faculty and Student Body
  • La Salle Pride

The "AAA" Team plays a competitive 30 game schedule playing locally in the Philly "AAA" League as well as the recently formed Mid-Atlantic Prep Hockey League (La Salle, Lawrenceville School, Hill School, Portledge School, Princeton Day School and Wyoming Seminary). The "AAA" Team practices an average of 2 times per week immediately after school from 3:00-4:15 PM. Scheduling is coordinated to best provide balance for student athletes playing on high level club teams at the U15, U16, U18 and junior levels. No games are played on weekends.

Our Non-League schedule is excellent and the most challenging of any high school hockey program in the state. Current and recent NL opponents include: Hill School, PA - Lawrenceville, NJ - Wyoming Seminary, PA - Portledge School, NY - Delbarton, NJ - Fairfield Prep, CT - Mount St. Charles Academy, RI - Bishop Guertin, NH - Brunswick School, CT - Gloucester Catholic, NJ - St. Augustine’s, NJ - Bergen Catholic, NJ - Christian Brothers Academy, NJ - Don Bosco Prep, NJ - Morristown-Beard, NJ - Princeton Day School, NJ - St. Peters Prep, NJ- St. Ignatius, OH - St. Edwards, OH - Meadville HS, PA - St. Francis, OH - St. Mary’s, NY - Bishop Hendricken, RI - La Salle Academy, RI – Northwood School, NY

The "AAA" Team participates in the annual Mount St. Charles Academy Invitational Tournament in December.

The Junior Varsity Team is a competitive team for serious players that are still developing physically and athletically to play on the "AAA" team consistently. The JV Team is designed to develop skills and provide high level players the challenge of a quality 25 game schedule. Throughout the season, some players from the JV Team will have the opportunity to play in Varsity games. The season runs October-March with a practice average of 1-2 times per week. No games are played on weekends.
