The La Salle Robotics team was formed in 2013. We started with only ten dedicated members to compete in the 2014 FRC season. We were only able to start thanks to the generosity of a FIRST grant. Despite these beginnings we were able to earn the Highest Rookie Seed and Rookie All-Star awards at a Springside Chestnut Hill Academy MAR event.
The next year during the Recycle Rush FRC game we were in a rough place financially. Connor and Mark, future captains, were able to make a presentation to our school's board of trustees to secure the funds we needed for our team to survive. Thanks to them we have grown to the point we are at today.
2016 was a great year for our team. We expanded to have a dedicated scouting group during competition and continued to improve our skillset.
The 2017 year was a huge turning point for our team. We expanded to include two FTC teams for our freshmen and sophomores. We started CADing the design for our robot. It was also the first year that we submitted for the Chairman's Award, which was a tremendous learning experience. All of this culminated when we ranked high enough to make it to the FRC district championship competition at Lehigh for the first time.
2018 represented our first year without any of the students who originally formed the team. Despite this setback we managed to earn the Judges Award at the FRC SCH competition. We also began a engineering class for seniors to provide more STEAM education at La Salle.
2019 was an expansion and restructuring of our team. We officially changed our team names to Explorer for FRC 5181, Pathfinder for FTC 11540, and Voyager for FTC 11319. Additionally, we developed a system of committees to more efficiently divide up and accomplish all of our new responsibilities. Outside of our team, we started three FLL teams and an all-girls FLL Jr Team. We also hosted a STEAM night for middle-school students and a FLL competition. This year also marks the beginning of our engineering seminars open for all La Salle students to attend. Because of all of these efforts, we won the Engineering Inspiration Award at the Hatboro-Horsham District Competition and, we made it to the District Championships at Lehigh for our second time in our short 6-year history.
