Senior Summer Service Trips
Weeks 1 and 2
Given the devastating effects of Hurricane Maria, a significant portion of this trip's work will be directed towards rebuilding efforts both at the school, and in the surrounding communities. In addition, students will take advantage of the rich culture and the beauty of the country.
This trip is an opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the Appalachian culture of West Virginia while working with Habitat for Humanity to help build affordable housing for families in the area.
This trip is intended to strike a balance between the rich heritage of this island country, with the socio-economic challenges of many former industrialized towns.
The group from La Salle College High School will work directly with a number of organizations — the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission, the Boys and Girls Club of Coachella Valley, and "90 Days of Summer" outreach — to provide service to the people of the Coachella Valley.
Week 3
The Bronx trip is intended to take the sophomore urban immersion to the next level through a more intensified urban experience living in and working with the tens of thousands of marginalized people in New York City.
This trip is designed to fully immerse our students in the rich history and culture of the Navajo Nation, but more importantly, expose them to the real issues they face each day including poverty, limited access to education, unemployment, and the isolation of life on the reservation.
