Device of Choice Program

Students who are interested in taking our Adobe Design Academy courses or our Engineering Design courses will need a device that has higher specifications than other students. According to Adobe and Autodesk, the recommendations are as follows:

Windows
Processor: Intel, AMD, or ARM processor with 64-bit support
RAM: 8GB or more (32GB recommended)
Hard disk space: 8 GB available; additional space required for installation

Mac
Processor: Multicore Intel processor with 64-bit support or M1 Apple Silicon processor
Operating system: macOS Ventura (version 13.7.4) and later | macOS Sequoia 15.3.1 recommended (Apple M1 silicon)
RAM: 16 GB or more
Hard disk space: 8 GB available; additional space required for installation

Digital Citizenship will still be a cornerstone of not only La Salle’s device program but also its Introduction to Design and Technology class that all freshmen are required to take.

While use will vary from class to class, teachers will ask students to submit work electronically through the portal, access assignments online, and use their device to conduct research.

Students will be able to select “LaSalle - Student” as their Wi-Fi network and connect after signing in with the username and password they use for their La Salle email.

La Salle’s Office of Information Technology will hold Technology Orientation in August for all incoming freshmen. At that orientation, students will receive help in connecting to La Salle’s network, accessing Schoology and PowerSchool, setting up email on their device, and more. Students who are experiencing software and connectivity issues with their device can come to the Office of Information Technology for assistance. The Support Center will also aid in directing students to the proper channels for hardware support.

All students are required to have a charged device with them each day. To that end, responsibility for the safety and security of personal devices lies with the student. Students have the option of purchasing optional Accidental Damage Protection for their device. Additionally, insurance policies that cover stolen devices are available through third parties.

A limited number of loaner devices will be available. However, these devices are for students whose own laptops are being repaired. These loaners are not available for students who have forgotten their personal device on a given day.
